In 1929, Man Ray collaborated with the Surrealist poets Louis Aragon and Benjamin Péret to produce a slim journal named simply “1929”. It was an outrageous endeavor, so outrageous that when it was shipped from Brussels to Paris, it was promptly impounded by French customs.
